Tecnocarp has always believed that, in addition to developing the economy and the supply of work in the area in which it operates, it must also contribute to the social development of its surrounding area. With this in mind, the company is the first company in the Ponte dell’olio industrial area to lend its support to Progetto Vita.
Progetto Vita was founded in Piacenza in 1998, and was the first European project to focus on early defibrillation, an intervention that can prevent death due to heart attack.
The project involves setting up a network of semi-automatic defibrillators, located in strategic points within the city and the province which can be used by “non-medical” life-savers. The objective is to succeed in providing first response medical care within the all-important “5 golden minutes” that follow a heart attack, while the patient awaits the arrival of an ambulance.
The big advantage lies in the ever-increasing network of defibrillators and in their use by non-medical parties, who receive adequate training in the form of a course that is approximately 3 hours long. Since “Progetto Vita” has been up and running in Piacenza, the survival rate relative to the most life-threatening arrhythmia, ventricular fibrillation, has tripled: going from 11.6% to 29.7% of the cases occurring.
To date, no less than 69 lives have been saved thanks to Progetto Vita.
For this reason, Tecnocarp is truly proud to have the opportunity to host a defibrillator and so become another link in this important provincial network.
